The “Express To The Trades Expo” is free for students in Grades 7-12 and includes two tickets — one for the student and one for a parent/guardian) to the Express game against the Sudbury Five April 20.

The expo will take place in the WFCU lobby from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by tipoff at 7 p.m.

“It’s the first time we’ve ever done something like this,” said Dartis Willis, president and CEO of the Express. “The kids will have a chance to sit down and talk to someone to determine if they want to work in the trades.”

Willis noted construction of the Gordie Howe Bridge along with other major local projects has highlighted the need for more youth choosing trades as a career path.

Students can register for the expo at windsorexpress.ca. In addition to participating in the expo, students will receive a food voucher, a swag bag and the chance to win a St. Clair College scholarship.

“With the recent developments in Windsor-Essex, the skilled trades are of even more importance in providing positive outcomes for our community,” Willis said. This event will provide an opportunity for students to learn more about the skilled trades in an interactive, informative, and fun environment.”
