When is the Western Canadian Music Awards and BreakOut West held?

The festival and conference takes place Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 at venues across Calgary’s downtown core and the Music Mile entertainment strip running on 9 Ave. SE from Inglewood to East Village.

Who is included in the nominations?

The WCMA’s include artists from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan and Yukon. Voting is done by members of western provincial and territorial music industry association members. It begins on June 8 and concludes on June 22.

How many categories are voted on?

There are both artistic and industry nominees in several categories. Everything is co-ordinated through the head office in Winnipeg which is located on the ancestral lands, from Treaty One Territory, the original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
