November 3: It’s reported that Rodgers has tested positive for Covid and will be unable to play in an upcoming game, despite previously telling reporters he has been “immunized.” He reportedly follows the NFL’s protocols for unvaccinated players, and his coach will not confirm his actual vaccination status. It got worse from there.
November 9: Shailene Woodley takes to Instagram Stories to address the scandal for the first time. She posts a screenshot of a Daily Mail article including a picture reportedly of Rodgers’ breaking his quarantine on a coffee run, and writes, “Literally y’all need to calm the fuck down. This is straight up HILARIOUS. News outlets STILL grasping at straws to disparage Aaron. Finding random fucking men on the streets of la and saying it’s him.”
She added a circle around the masked “random” man’s feet and wrote: “I know Aaron’s body. VERY well. First off, his feet, ahem and no offense to this rando dude, are a LOT bigger. ;)”
February 16: Reports emerge that the two have split (and may have been split for a while at this point). Various sources cite various reasons, from conflicting schedules to their friends not getting along, but none are particularly acrimonious.
February 21: Rodgers posts a series of pictures to his Instagram grid, including one of him with Woodley, cuddling, and writes, “@shailenewoodley, thanks for letting me chase after you the first couple months after we met, and finally letting me catch up to you and be a part of your life. Thanks for always having my back, for the incredible kindness you show me and everyone you meet, and for showing me what unconditional love looks like, I love you and am grateful for you.”
February 22: Rodgers appears on The Pat McAfee show and seems to talk about his relationship in the present tense while apologizing for putting Woodley in the crosshairs of the vaccine debate and thanking her for improving his life.
