Saskatchewan RCMP investigate deaths of two women found after house fire as homicides

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – RCMP say the deaths of two women whose bodies were found after a fire at a home in North Battleford, Sask., are being investigated as homicides.

Police say in a release that the bodies were found on Christmas Eve during a search of the property after the city fire department responded to a house fire.

The dead have been identified as 25-year-old Alyssa LeCaine of North Battleford and 20-year-old Daphne Bear from Sweetgrass First Nation.

Police say their families have been notified.

The cause of their deaths was not released.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is investigating the cause of the fire.
