FREDERICTON – New Brunswick’s health minister has issued a call for volunteers to help with the province’s pandemic response effort.
Dorothy Shephard says the Omicron variant is causing increased hospitalizations and staff shortages.
In a statement today, she says the government needs people for paid and unpaid work in both clinical and non-clinical roles.
There are currently 347 health-care workers who are isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.
Officials announced the deaths of three people in the Bathurst region from COVID-19, bringing the province’s total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 192.
There are currently 113 people in hospital — unchanged from a day earlier — including 15 in intensive care.
