Marchand touts plans for safer neighbourhoods, traffic calming

Ward 4 city council candidate Matt Marchand on Tuesday touted his plan for safer streets and traffic calming.

He credited the city for adopting its Vision Zero Policy, but is calling for fast-tracking implementation of more traffic calming measures such as increased use of speed humps, lane narrowing and increased number of four-way stops, especially near dangerous intersections.

He also wishes to conduct a 30-day review to ensure whether there are sufficient school crossing guards in the city, plus greater utilization of reduced speed limits and increased enforcement of parking restrictions in school zones.

“Ward 4 residents are concerned about traffic and safety on our streets and around our schools,” Marchand said.
