Ralf Rangnick previews Brentford clash

Few Manchester United fans will enjoy looking at the Premier League table right now.

The Red Devils are languishing in seventh, a whopping 24 points behind rivals and leaders Manchester City.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick will be keen to improve his squad but is yet to complete any deals in the January window.

Although the German is only on a temporary contract, he will start a two-year consultancy gig in the summer and will have a say on future transfer business.

But who is on Rangnick’s radar? Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest rumours from Old Trafford… including an update on John McGinn’s future.

Who should Manchester United sign in January? Let us know in the comments below!

Reports earlier this week suggested Untied are considering a £40million bid for Aston Villa midfielder McGinn.

But, according to 90min, Villa have no interest in selling the Scotland international, 27, in either of the next two transfer windows.

New Villa manager Steven Gerrard is said to be a big fan of McGinn and wants him to be part of his team moving forward.

“I love John McGinn, I love the person, the character, the player,” claimed Gerrard in December. “I’m the lucky one that’s able to work with him and try to improve his game.”

And, speaking last April, legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: “McGinn coming through at Aston Villa has been fantastic.”

The ambitious West Midlands outfit, who won the European Cup in 1982, are hoping to become a force in Europe again.

The only major sale Villa have sanctioned since the start of last summer was Jack Grealish’s £100m deal to Man City.

McGinn, who has 42 senior caps for Scotland, has made 130 appearances in all competitions since joining Villa from Hibernian in the summer of 2018.

Barcelona are considering a move for United defender Alex Telles this month, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero via 90min.

The Catalan giants are reportedly looking to provide competition for current left-back Jordi Alba and have drawn-up a five-man shortlist.

The other four players on that list are Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro, Juvtenus’ Alex Sandro and Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza.

“The decision of the club is there, but my intention is to stay at Barcelona for life,” said Alba when asked about his future last summer.

Telles, 29, has made just 16 Premier League appearances for United since joining the club from Porto in the summer of 2020.

United’s wonderkid battle

Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick is being monitored by several clubs

Several top European sides, including United, are thought to be interested in signing Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick.

The forward, 15, has scored 167 goals in 171 youth team games and many are tipping him to become Brazil’s next superstar.

United are thought to have made contact with the Endrick’s representatives but, according to journalist Jorge Nicola, Barcelona are now leading the race for his signature.

It’s believed the Catalan giants are preparing a bid for the teenager when he turns professional after his 16th birthday in July.

Interested parties are reportedly wanting to secure a deal as soon as possible for Endrick to stop their rivals from making a move.

Liverpool and Man City are also thought to be keen on signing the emerging talent.
