Five classes of students and two bus cohorts were dismissed from local elementary schools on Friday, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District school board reported.
The school board reports that two classes and one bus cohort were dismissed from St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic elementary school following two confirmed cases of COVID-19; two classes were dismissed from St. Joseph’s Catholic high school after one confirmed case at the school; and one class and one bus cohort was dismissed from Sacred Heart Catholic school after one confirmed case at the school.
Families have been notified and students advised not to return to school on Monday, school board officials said. The Windsor Essex County health unit is contacting any individuals who may have been affected, and will advise when students are able to return to class.
Families are reminded to monitor their students for symptoms of COVID-19 and to keep them at home and contact their healthcare provider if they’re sick.
